I’m not sick, I’m pregnant! : )

Well the secret if finally out – Alex and I are expecting!  It’s been a long 12 weeks but we are letting the world know that Baby Boersma is on the way.  This morning we had the amazing experience of hearing the heartbeat for the first time.  It made everything feel so undeniably real.

So if you’ve been wondering why I’ve been so absent from my blog for the past month or so, it’s because I’ve been exhausted and struggling with nausea.  But that stage seems to be over now and other than a few food aversions, I’m feeling almost back to my normal self.

This whole experience so far has been teaching me a lot.  It’s been tough to feel so bad when something so good is happening inside.  This is what I’ve been learning from the most.  Often when God is doing something really amazing and wonderful in us, it can feel awful! Isn’t that true on so many levels?  It seems over the last few months I’ve spoken with a lot of people who are struggling with where they’re at in life.  In fact I’ve been struggling with that.  However I am continuously reminded (even through this pregnancy) that I’m not sick, I’m pregnant.  Even though it hurts sometimes, new life is being formed.  Though the sorrow may last for the night, his joy comes with the morning.

Now don’t worry, I’m not going to only post blogs relating being pregnant to spiritual lessons in our lives!  Trust me.  Even I would get tired of that and I’m the one with the bun in the oven.  But I do hope to continue to share my journey with you and the lessons I’ve been learning, related to being preggers or not.

And for all you friends and family who are out of town, I hope you’ll check back often to hear updates on how things are going with the little one.

Have a great weekend and make someone smile!

  2. Congratulations! In 28 weeks your hearts will be transformed in a way you never thought possible! It’s not always easy to do but enjoy each physical moment… this kind of miracle is something you’ll never want to forget.

  3. Yay, Heather! Great to hear your wonderful…truly, wonder-full news!

‘Agree with your insight, that often when God’s doing a really good work in us, it doesn’t always feel so great, but thankfully, joy does come in the morning.
