Real Life Dreamers: Jen

Hey friends.  It’s Friday, which means its time for another story from a  “Real Life Dreamer”.  Our fourth story is from Jen who blogs over at “A Drop in the Bucket” .  If you still want to get in on guest posting about your dream, msg me for more info!  And with that I’ll turn it over to Jen.

10 years old, and a dream was born.  With a supportive English teacher and a creative, young mind, I knew I wanted to be a writer.  Can you know these things at such a young age?

The dream took on a new life as school went on…first journalism, as a writer and editor on our high school newspaper, and then college learning how to be television news writer and producer.

Then love took me somewhere I wouldn’t be able to get into the news game {and the dream took a break}.

Fast forward ten years, to today.

I find myself across an ocean (first in the Netherlands, and now in Scotland) from most of our family and friends.  As a stay-at-home mom, with more time than I have ever had before to do that one thing I also dreamt of as a child.

Funny how things work out, isn’t it?

So, are you wondering how I am going to do this?  It seems like the first step is to actually start it.  So, I am taking part in this fancy little happening going on in November: National Novel Writing Month.

But I do have a few things to consider and keep in mind as I go down this road to dream fulfillment.  A few things people called J#1 (my husband), J#3 (my 2 year old son) and J#4 (my nine month old daughter).

I’ll have to manage my time wisely, because I have this other dream.  To be a fully present wife and mother, living in the “now”.   So I will have set aside time to do writing (nap time, after bed time); and the rest of the time?  Playing!  Reading!  Crafting?  Perhaps.

And I am being smart about the month of November.  I know I can’t write 150,000 words (!!) of a novel and keep up to date with blogging while “being here” for my family.  So I have my blog posts written up and scheduled.  I thought it was about time to tell readers about me.  All about my childhood, love, moves (there have been 10 of them!) and heart.  So stop on by and visit.  Would love to hear about your dreams too!  Are you a writer?  Any tips for me?  Please let me know, I’ll use all the help I can get.
