The Best 4 Years of My Life

Four years ago I married my best friend on a beach in Cuba.

It’s been an amazing, crazy, up and down journey, but I can genuinely say it’s been the best four years of my life.

Instead of taking too much time to tell you all about it today, I’m gonna give you one word for each year and spend the rest of the day smoochin’ my man.

The first year was bliss.

We bought a new house, both worked full time and made lots of money and moved to Australia for 6 months to volunteer at a church and surf!

The second year was heartbreaking

We left our Australia experience heart broken.  Broken by others, broken by one another, with broken dreams and broken promises.  We went through 6 months of marriage counseling in our second year. It was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.  In the second year I finally understood how people end up divorced.  It was NEVER an option for us, but I could see how it happens.

The third year was restorative.

We rebuilt our marriage, renovated our second house, saw our dreams reborn.  Just like a muscle torn in a moment of intensity, we grew back stronger, closer and more like Christ (I hope!)

The fourth year has been the year of blessing.

This year we’ve seen many of our dreams come true.  The birth of our son, the completion of my first book and the successful start of Alex’s business.  This past year has been one where the favor and blessing of the Lord on our lives in undeniable.

I can’t wait to see what the Lord has for us next!
